Today, there are many new and innovative memory techniques being used by the bright and successful to accomplish more in their lives. In this article we will first learn the memory techniques themselves. Then we will discuss out to use them to remember all sorts of things.

When talking about memory techniques, the word ‘Mnemonic’ is often used.  Mnemonics are memory techniques for recalling information that is difficult to recall.  The idea with using mnemonics is to encode hard-to-remember information in a way that easy to remember.

Our minds have evolved to interpret intense stimuli such as colors, sounds, tastes, smells, touch, feelings, forms, structures, languages, and more.  These stimuli are used to create memories and interpretations of the world we live in.

Sadly, most of the information we are required to remember is always presented differently as words on a document. Most of the time we can interpret and remember written words, but other mediums of information isn’t do readily remembered.

The main idea to improving your memory techniques is to code the incoming information by using vivid mental images that are more easily remembered within the mind.  This is what mnemonics is all about

Below are some memory techniques to make your mnemonics more influential:

Use uplifting, calm images. Your brain will often reject unpleasant images.

Use vivid, bright, colorful images, as these are easier to remember.

Make sure to use all of your senses to encode information into your mind. Mnemonic memory techniques use all of the senses to retain information.

Give your images multi-dimensions including movement and space.

Over emphasis the important parts of an image.

Use humor and comedy. Funny things are some of the easiest to remember.

Additionally, crude items are always hard to forget.
